GENRE: Gay Erotic Romance
LENGTH: 166 pages
RATING: flame rating 4

Shy and scholarly, long-distance swimmer Ryan Zwick thinks he’s the only gay member of the college swim team. He keeps his head down in the showers, and his head in the books the rest of the time.

But when a sporty new transfer student joins the team, Ryan feels a surge of hope. Sexually inexperienced and looking for love, fellow swimmer Blake Gossens is everything Ryan wants in a boyfriend. But what is Blake’s game, exactly? And just how straight is he?

Blake seems to be more interested in Ryan’s best friend, Marissa, leaving Ryan to go back to secretly checking out his teammates in the pool. But Ryan keeps getting mysterious messages in his dating app from a stranger who seems to know a lot about him. Could this messenger be Blake? Or someone else?

When bad weather hits unexpectedly, Ryan is forced to confront his real feelings toward Blake, while opening up to the stranger by his side, eventually giving in to his wildest fantasies -- and his heart.

Note: may contain sexually explicit scenes of a homoerotic nature.

Down in the locker room, Ryan luxuriated under the hot shower. All his thoughts on sex had disappeared by then -- he was simply too tired. He wondered how he was going to juggle all this practice with his workload at school -- he had sixteen credit hours this semester. He wondered if his next scholarship check would come through today. He wondered if he would have enough money left over to fix his car, which had already been sitting in a dorm parking spot for over a month.

Then Blake walked in, his muscled body glowing with vigor, his nipples tiny and pointed, with a thousand goose bumps covering his skin. Dropping his bottle of conditioner on the tile floor, Blake stepped under the shower directly across from Ryan. As the water flowed, Blake stripped off his outer swimsuit, then untied the drawstring of his smaller, tighter black speedo, moving his fingers under the waistline, teasing the edge lower and lower. He stared over at right at Ryan, and then winked knowingly.

He’s a narcissist, thought Ryan. He knows he’s a hot straight man and he wants me to gawk at him. He loves the idea of me wanting him. Well, I’m not going to give him the pleasure.

Ryan turned around and faced the wall, rinsing the conditioner from his own hair and staring down at his own feet, his meekly bulging speedo, and up to his skinny chest. Then he yanked the faucet shut, walked out of the showers with his towel, and dried himself off energetically, just as Blake began pulling off his suit. Yes, Ryan admitted that he wanted to see Blake naked, but he was not going to give the new guy the pleasure of being right. Ryan had known other guys like that -- men who loved the power and attention that their good looks provided them. After their talk at the stadium that morning, Ryan did not want to confirm that he was checking Blake out. They were just teammates -- that’s all -- two guys who did the same sport at the same college.

He searched instead for Erik, but the blonde swimmer was already dressed in his sexy underwear, rubbing his pale back with a towel. The guy was definitely cute, but when Erik turned around and looked back at him, Ryan broke his gaze and reached down, pretending to tie his already-tied shoes. Then he quickly left, heading down the big stone steps of the aquatic center, where he found Marissa waiting for him.

“Oh, hey,” Ryan was a little surprised to see her. Marissa said nothing, but climbed up the stairs to him and gave him a hug.

“Hello friend,” she said, linking arms with him. “You busy?”

“Well -- we have a test tomorrow,” Ryan reminded her.

“Yep. Seed Pathogens. I’m on it, and I’m here to study with you -- if you want,” Marissa gazed up at him with her gentle face. She really was like a sister to him.

“Of course I want,” said Ryan.

“You’re not mad at me? Really?” asked Marissa, who still seemed concerned.

“For what?” said Ryan, feigning ignorance. “Oh! You mean, for outing me to my brand new teammate who is probably blurting it out to the rest of the swim team right now, and who will probably never treat me the same again? Oh, that’s nothing -- no big deal. Water under the bridge.”

Ryyyyyan!” Marissa whined. “I feel terrible -- I’ve been feeling terrible all day.” Ryan put his arm around her shoulder and began walking back down the steps with his friend.

“You should feel awful,” said Ryan. “But whatever. It happened. Cat’s out of the bag -- now the world knows I’m gay.”
