Kenta opened his eyes. He had no idea what time it was. In fact, he couldn't even be certain if it was still the same century as when he had entered the cave and concealed it from prying eyes with his magic in order to meditate and reach enlightenment. Something or someone had disturbed and awakened him from his trance-like state. He sniffed the air with his sensitive nose. It was magic. It felt weirdly familiar, but he couldn't comprehend why he was unable to remember where or when he had encountered it before. He inhaled deeply for a second time around. There was that scent again. That magic reminded him of something from a long time ago. He didn't like foreign magic in his territory, and its existence so close to where he was should have alarmed him, but strangely enough, he felt comforted instead.

"There's someone in there."

Kenta's ears perked up in an instant. It was a language he didn't recognize, but his magic came in handy, and he was able to automatically translate the words inside his head. By the same virtue, his magic would also change any words that came out of his mouth into that foreign tongue. He couldn't see the person who had uttered that statement, but he could definitely hear the man's voice and every single word loudly and clearly. He called upon his magic and cloaked himself in it. Immediately, he became one with the stones inside the cave. No one would be able to detect his presence now. Mere seconds later, he could feel that magic again. Whoever it was, the person was definitely strong enough to break apart the protective magic he had woven into the entrance of the cave. Then he stared curiously as three men stepped into the cave.

Kenta easily dismissed the oldest of the three men because he was nothing more than an ordinary mortal. The second man also had no trace of magic in him, but Kenta's heart throbbed painfully all of a sudden, and he didn't know the reason for that. Something about this particular man brought up blurry images from his distant past, and he couldn't avert his gaze. It had nothing to do with the stranger's green eyes and dark blonde hair. Kenta continued to observe the man carefully. The man was nearly one foot taller than his own height of five feet and five inches. Judging by the man's bulky and muscular build, Kenta could tell that the stranger was much heavier than him.

Then the third man came into view, and Kenta was stunned. His breath hitched silently. Something about that face triggered some sort of memories within him, but he couldn't understand why nothing appeared inside his mind. Again, it had nothing to do with the man's dark brown eyes and black hair. Kenta had amber eyes and golden hair so he was more unique in that regards, but he gasped silently when he detected the third man's magic. Runic magic, to be exact. Something about it tickled the back of his mind, but no matter how deep he dug into it, he came up blank. In the end, he could only study the man without making any sound. The third man was slightly younger and shorter than the second one, and he didn't have the same amount of muscles everywhere, but he undoubtedly had a great body.

"Damn it, Milo," the second man cursed while glaring at the third man. "This is just another empty cave."

Milo shook his head. "No, it's not. I can feel something in here. Or someone."

Kenta was astonished. He was also more than a little impressed. He grinned before pulling his magic back and removing the illusion. All three men shouted and jumped a few steps backward when he smirked at them.
