Gary isn’t too upset about getting second place in the Lord of the Leather Daddies contest at this year’s Pride Pageant, because he’s won something better than a crown and title: the attention of the Prince of Pups, Tomas. Tomas wore a chest harness and fingerless gloves that matched his hood, and the gloves had padding on the palm in the shape of a paw print. In addition to the harness he had a black collar with a heart-shaped tag that glinted enough in the June sunlight that Gary couldn’t quite tell what color it was from this distance or if there was anything inscribed on it. Although he was a bit soft around the middle, the muscle definition in his arms and exposed calves showed he wasn’t a couch potato. There was a rubber tail clipped to the back of Tomas’s cut-off jean shorts. Gary had fortunately been watching when Tomas was up on stage showing off that tail by shaking his ass for the adoring crowd. It had been that moment that Gary first started to hope he could get a private showing with Tomas later. Furthermore, Tomas was cute in all his gear, but Gary was curious what he looked like out of it as well.

The interest was confirmed to be mutual when, after the competition was officially over and all the winners had had time to shake hands and take pictures with their fans, Tomas sought out Gary among the crowd. “Hey there,” he said. Even his voice was cute, albeit a little muffled by the hood. “Wanna take me for a walk?” He winked.

Now up close, Gary got to see all the details he had tried to determine from the other stage. Tomas was a few inches taller than Gary, not enough to make Gary crane his neck in order to maintain eye contact but enough for Gary to be aware that he was the shorter one here. Tomas’s eyes were the definition of puppy brown, dark but alight with vigor and mischief. The tag on his collar was silver and said GOOD BOY in bold letters. There was a thin coating of dark hair on his chest and down his forearms. The tips of tattoos poked out from under the wrists of his gloves, though that full detail of Tomas’s body remained a mystery for now. Good. I like it when guys maintain a little mystery.

“That depends,” Gary said. “If I walked you to somewhere I could buy you a drink, would you legally be allowed to drink it?”

Tomas lifted his chin proudly. “As of last month, yes.”

So he is just a pup. But he’s also an adult and so am I. He’s the one making a move on me. I’ll stop if I think he’s not ready to handle all this, but fuck me, I’m willing to let him try first. Gary snapped his fingers and pointed to his side. “Then heel, boy.”

“Yes, sir!” Tomas fell in beside Gary. He tucked his hands to his chest like a dog waiting for his treat. Gary rewarded him by scratching the dark hair on the nape of Tomas’s neck that poked out from under his hood. Tomas kicked his leg in appreciation.

“Good boy,” Gary said. “Come.” He had never been with a guy into pup play before, but he had had a couple real dogs in his younger days and he knew enough about the kink to understand how he should treat a pup. Tomas certainly wasn’t complaining. He followed dutifully as Gary led them both to one of the booths selling alcoholic beverages at the event.

“You alright?” Gary asked. “Not getting too hot or anything?”

Tomas shrugged. He gestured to his mostly bare skin. “I’m alright. But uh ... yeah I’m kinda looking forward to taking the hood off to drink.”

Fortunately, because everyone was so eager to purchase their drinks and find somewhere cooler to sit, the lines moved faster than Gary dreaded. Some people hung around under the tent awning to stay in the shade while they took their first sips, but they moved on quickly as soon as other people had the same idea and the space became too crowded. Once Gary had paid for their two beers, he immediately walked off with Tomas in search of somewhere more private to enjoy them. Tomas was the one who spotted a group of people getting up from under one of the trees. Gary rewarded him with another, “Good boy,” and told him to run over and save it for them. Tomas darted off like a hunting dog chasing a downed duck. He got down on all fours at the base of the tree and sat back on his haunches. Gary chuckled to himself. No wonder they crowned him Prince of Pups. He’s really into the whole bit. Adorable.
